The 5 Countries I Booked the Most in 2025 and 1 Surprise Drop Off!

Every year I love looking back at the trips my clients actually took, not just what was trending online. 2025 had some clear favorites, a few repeat superstars, and one pretty big surprise.

If you’ve been following along for a while, you might notice something missing from this list… yep, this country officially fell out of my Top 5 this year 😮 (more on that later).

Here are the five countries my clients couldn’t stop booking in 2025 — starting with number five and counting all the way up to the top spot.

#5 🇲🇽 Mexico

Mexico continues to be a favorite for travelers who want an easy, relaxing escape with great value.

Cancún, Riviera Maya, Cabo San Lucas, and Puerto Vallarta remained consistently popular in 2025 — especially for all-inclusive stays, destination weddings, and milestone celebrations. But one destination really stood out this year: San Miguel de Allende.

I saw a noticeable increase in trips to San Miguel de Allende, particularly for travelers looking for culture, charm, and a more immersive experience beyond the beach. The mix of history, food, art, and boutique hotels made it a standout addition to Mexico bookings this year.

#4 🇬🇷 Greece

Greece had a strong year — and this was actually its first time ever making my Top 5 list.

Athens, Santorini, and Mykonos continued to be popular choices in 2025, anchoring many itineraries with a mix of history, iconic scenery, and vibrant energy. At the same time, I saw many travelers adding Naxos and Paros into their plans.

These islands were a hit for clients looking for beautiful beaches, a slightly slower pace, and a more relaxed local feel while still keeping that classic Greek island vibe.

#3 🇫🇷 France

France climbed into the Top 3 in 2025.

Paris continued to hold the top spot for France, especially for first-time visitors and travelers checking off classic bucket-list experiences. But this year, I also saw a noticeable uptick in trips to the Normandy region.

Many travelers specifically included Normandy to visit World War II sites, memorials, and historic beaches, often pairing it with time in Paris. The combination of iconic city experiences and meaningful, history-rich travel made France especially appealing in 2025.

#2 🇬🇧 United Kingdom

The United Kingdom was a standout this year — and the way clients traveled here definitely evolved.

In past years, I booked a lot of Ireland-only trips. In 2025, travelers wanted more variety. Many chose to pair Ireland with time in England, often using London as a base, and if schedules allowed, they added Scotland as well.

This multi-country (or multi-region) approach gave travelers a richer experience, blending iconic cities, countryside, history, and culture — all without feeling rushed.

#1 🇮🇹 Italy

No surprises here — Italy takes the top spot once again.

From honeymoons and anniversaries to family trips and milestone celebrations, Italy checked every box in 2025. Rome, Florence, the Amalfi Coast, Tuscany, Venice, and Lake Como were booked again and again, with travelers loving the food, wine, culture, and unforgettable scenery.

One destination that really stood out as a newcomer this year was the Dolomites. I saw growing interest from travelers who wanted a more active experience, especially hiking and spending time immersed in the mountains.

Italy continues to offer something for every travel style — which is exactly why it holds onto the #1 spot year after year.

And the Surprise… Thailand 🇹🇭

If you’re wondering where Thailand went — you’re not alone.

Thailand didn’t disappear from bookings in 2025, but it did slip out of the Top 5. Bangkok and Phuket continued to be the most commonly booked spots, especially for travelers wanting a mix of city energy and beach time.

That said, I saw a noticeable drop in trips to Koh Samui this year compared to previous years. Overall interest shifted slightly, even though Thailand remains a destination many travelers still love and plan to visit.

Travel trends are always evolving, and it’ll be interesting to see where Thailand lands again in the coming years.

Looking ahead to 2026, these insights give a glimpse into the kinds of experiences travelers are seeking. It’s the perfect time to start dreaming, planning, and booking your next adventure — who knows which destination will top the charts next year?
